SEPTEMBER 2006 SEI CLASS:

In September of 2006 Namaste Solar Electric was proud to once again facilitate a Photovoltaic Design and Installation class conducted by Solar Energy International (SEI). For this workshop SEI needed a situation where the students could actually watch and participate in the installation of a grid-tied solar PV system in the Denver/Boulder area. Inviting a large group of students to your home to install your new PV system can be an unnerving experience, and asking a customer to make that sacrifice would be difficult. Fortunately one of Namaste's own employees, Teri Lema, came to the rescue. She and her husband, Paul, were scheduled to have their system installed soon, so they graciously offered up their home as the "laboratory" and welcomed the class of 30 students to learn the craft of solar PV on their system installation.

Namaste Solar Electric employees Stephen Kane, Jon Ernst, and Jason Sharpe handled the design, logistics, procurement, and permitting work for the job, and then they performed the installation and assisted the SEI instructors throughout the workshop. The SEI instructors for the course were Ed Eaton and Kevin Lundy. They were able to help the students learn about PV systems through the use of a small mock-up system that was set up on the ground at the job site. The job went smoothly, the weather was beautiful, the students learned a lot, and everyone involved had a great time. Here are some photos taken during the class:

Here is the finished array. All in all, everyone had a great time, learned a lot, worked safely and added yet one more home to the list of clean energy consumers.
